We set up fri morning like always, the rain stayed away and it was a beautiful day. I'm guessing we cooked for just over 100 people as it was a friends b day party. I would rather have a small party because this was a bunch of people.

My brisket went in about 10 ish fri night on the drum. I felt like I had frost bite since my winter cloths were not in the truck, my bad I guess. LOL The drum and I made it thru the night with little adjustment to the drum. Gotta love that part. My buddy got the pork in sometime after midnight and his ribs around 4ish I think.

The brisket and chicken was mine so after the drum was rollin I went to sleep.

My chicken was OK at best.

The pork had good flavor but wasn't pull-able. And for what ever reason it look like a pile of dog crap.

The BBacks looked like the best we have ever done. The taste was there, and tenderness too. But when ya tried to eat them, there was all kinds of membrane running thru the meat. It was crazy.

The burnt ends were fantastic, the flat was just a touch dry and almost to tender. They probably fell apart when the judges picked them up.

All in all we had fun as always, it was a little more work having a larger party then the norm but still fun.

At the awards we always hear the same teams doing pretty decent and this year that was not the case at all. The ones that always do great, were way down the list. Must have been the moon.

We ended up 91 out of 108. That was a bummer.

Brisket hit 51 and the other three aren't even worth talkin about.

I will reply with pics as soon as I load them this morning. Cause it did happen LOL, we even take the pics when we do bad.

Hey it is great that you take the time to go compete in these - Sorry things did not go as planned but hopefully it was a good learning experience and if you had fun then even better

Here we go. BTW this smoke is as it came out the door. Some will say photo shop but this is unaltered.

All right I just got a call and have to go to work so I will have to post the rest when I get back home.

I looked up the results at KCBS and was surprised to see the big boys that usually win were farther down the list. Making me feel better about Royal. Glad to see different teams at the top. You still did good in my opinion. After all, don't we go to these to have fun and meet people, and maybe learn a tip or to.

I just made it home from being on call, even on call it still sucks to work 12 1/2 hours the day after a comp. I made it home long enough after the first call to unload the pickup and stretch out my tent roof to dry, had to ask the wife to fold it up. I think I will have to post the rest of the pics tomorrow night if I make it home early.

Winning isn't everything but it's alot more fun then loosing. We weren't dead last so it isn't all bad.

It was fun and got to chat with some old friends and have a good time. Heck it didn't rain until we were picking up so thats a better deal then in the past.
