Well, here goes for a first time post with Q-view.

I just rubbed a couple of Boston Butts to be pulled tomorrow for lunch while we are tailgating in Lake Charles, Louisiana and supporting the McNeese Cowboys...

Nothing special here, just rubbed with some of Jeff's rub (slightly modified to my taste) and the 2 butts combined were around 16lbs and got them for $1.09 a pound. I will try to take pics and post as I go..      GO COWBOYS!!!!!!

Looks good.    That was a good price on them.  My usual source for pork butts is BJs, a box store similar to Sams & Costco.  Their price for butts is currently $1.49 per pound, two butts in a cryovac package -- perhaps the same weight as yours, or less.

What is the round thing to the right of the pair of butts?  Looks like an onion with the temperature probe in it.

Do I spot an A-Maze-N down there on the bottom?  Shielded from drips with an alluminum pan?  Are you using chips in the wood tray as well?

What temperature are you using?

Good looking Butts so far Bluechip,  Lets get that AMNS fired up and start the smoke...

Pretty good job on the Qview for a first timer...  Definitely Pro Quality Shots...

Bluechip looks like a great start.  Wish I could find butts around for that price!  Keep the Qview coming and thanks for sharing.

Yes your photos look great and so does the butts. Now you are tailgating for your team thats even better and I'm sure you will be the hit.

This was from a little mom and pop grocery store in the old part of town. And "Yes", it was two butts packaged together. I run into the son of the owner that is taking over the business and he said he was just having a sale on them. He said he put them on sale for labor day and moved a bunch, so he decided to do it again.

I bought 2 and put one up in the freezer.

Yep, that's an onion, there were no potato's in the house. And I have also taken some smoked onion and cooked with some fajita meat....

Yes it is an A-Maze-N smoker down there. I love that thing, best investment I ever made, besides my smoker. Using Hickory Dust

If I ever have to evacuate for a Hurricane again the Amazen smoker is on my list to take with me...lol...

Yes, I use the chips also for the first couple of hours and then only the amazen smoker...Using Apple Chips

It is running around 235 according to the probe that is through the onion, and I am catching the drippings also and shielding the amazen smoker too. I want to try and bring it to 205 without foiling. I have always foiled in the past but just want to try it this way, so I may need the drippings if it is too dry. Sometimes I feel like I'm cheating when I foil...but thats just me...

I am 6 hours into this smoke. MES 40 is cruising around 235 and the Amazen Smoker is still doing it's thing.

The butts have pretty much stalled the last hour, now it's that slow climb to 205...
