Almost. I dried, ground then smoked my Habneros and my RED jalapenos.
I HIGHLY recommend that the seeds be removed before drying. That was a huge mistake. Only because I wanted only the flesh. Picky I know.
Anyway, started with 3 gallons of Hab's, and 2 gallons of Jap's. Cut them in half and dehydrated them until brittle. Big difference in times between the two peppers. I didn't have a fine enough screen, yet. So I ground them in a coffee grinder. then poured them in a pie pan and cold smoked them with my new Amaz-n- smoker. Over mesquite. That device works great. Good smoke, no fussing for 6 hrs. I let it burn all night and in the morning all of the dust was burnt. I will be re-smoking the whole mess this weekend. Maybe a touch of hickory this time.
They are great. I did two batches and have not smoked the second batch. They are calling for rain. I'll smoke them later. You can see the line of the two in the jar on the left. They are quart mason jars.
