My cousin Monty visited me last weekend and told me about this amazing site, I've been smoking food for about 9 years now and I am just now finding out about this site. I have lived in Maine for 8 years now, and really miss the hard woods of the south, anyone know anything better to smoke with in the New England area other than apple or cherry? I've been experimenting with maple but oak has been my tried and true up here, I miss my hickory though. Thank you all for this site.

Welcome to the Family friend

Lot's to learn here, full of wonderful people and top o' the line Qview. I have been fortunate when it comes to hardwoods. I get a mixture that comes from all over the U.S to a R&D Center here in southern Ohio. It's free to me, and it comes in 55 Gallon Drums. Again Welcome Friend

Welcome to SMF - glad to have ya here - I am sure someone in your area has a source for the kinds of wood you are looking for

Welcome aboard!  SMF is a great place as you've already found out, and there are some great folks here who will help you out with any of your smoking needs.  I'd be glad to ship you up some hickory but you can probably order it just as easy online.  I've been wanting to try some pecan and wouldn't you know I missed a pickup truck load for $25 by just a couple days.  Looking more and more like I'm going to surrender and just order some. Charge up those camera batteries and share some Qview.
