Smoking Pork Butts while riding MT. Rainier in HD!

Hi all, well this will be one of those pellet cooker stories where I will smoke 2 beautiful pork butts and get to ride some of Washington's great roads leading up MT. Rainier. I seasoned the butts last evening and got up at 6 AM and injected them with Cherry Dr. Pepper. 6:30 AM they went in my Traeger Texas. The hopper is fully loaded and soon my Suzuki B-King will be as well. While my Traeger is filling my neighborhood with the aroma of thin blue smoke and cooking pork, I will be carving my way through the twists of the roads leading up to and around MT. Rainier here in WA state. Below is a pic of the Mountain from a far. There is also a Q-View pic of the butts as they were at 6:30 AM. I won't be puting up a cooking video today as I won't be here to do so. I will have my HD video camera mounted on the bike and will post a video that will somewhat bring you along to the MT. with me. Hope you enjoy the cook and ride.

2 Butts seasoned with mustard, garlic powder, Jack's Old South Hickory rub and brown sugar. Injected with Cherry Dr. Pepper.

Update: Returned ome at 3:PM. Trager held it's own and the butts are now foiled and finishing the cook. Here is a sample pic of what the scenery was like. More to come. This was taken at Sunrise visitor cente at an elevation of 6,400 feet. Sunrise is the highest point that can be reached by vehicle at Mount Rainier National Park.

Great pics! I lived in Seattle for a bit back in 1984-85, That mountain reminds me of Raaaaaaaiiiiinneeeeerrrrrrrrr Bbbeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..............

Oh sure, drag up that old commercial.  I would swear but they don't like it around here.  Anyway, we were camping at one of the parks down Tacoma way, and there was this "I'll let you add your negative thoughts about his character" running around in a deer suit, after midnite, yelling......

"Raaaaaaaiiiinneeeeeeerrrrrrr Bbbeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrr".  Park rangers couldn't catch him, but he finally shut up about 3:30 or 4 a.m.  Wouldn't have been so bad except I've always favored Olympia Beer......

Great pictures of Mt Rainer, but you ought to take a run up Mt Baker.  The roads still not clear to Artist Point.  Yeah, Yeah, I know, us and our mountains, we just love them so.

Sorry for the hijack, but.......you started it........

Baker is a great ride. I have ridden most of Washingtons rides and have mapped, logged and video taped them. All on my other website http://www.Road-Quest.com. The North Cascades highway is another. I'm compiling the video from the ride today and the cook. I'll post it tonight. The pork turned out amazing. While I was carving the roads out of the MT Rainier National Forest, my Traeger Texas was on autopilot and did an outstanding job as always.

And yes we do love our mountains and I never NEVER liked Rainier beer! The guy running around in the deer suite until wee hours in the morning may have caught a .308 bullet or maybe a .45 ACP. Depending on my mood. :-)
 
Update: Here's the video I shot from my HD camera I had mounted on my bike. There are some awesome views of MT Rainier!

 
Making me home sick! I lived in the Puget Sound area for about 43 years until I was transplanted in Texas. The shots of Mt. Rainer bring back lots of good times, I grew up camping and hiking up there on Mntn Rear as we called it when we were little kids [emoji]128518[/emoji]. Missed the Cave Man Kitchen so much had to learn to do real Q when I got down to N. texas. Started with a MES for a few years and just ordered the Yoder YS640, ill have to try your smoke and ride method but unfortunatly me and my cruizer won't be headed to Rainer[emoji]128557[/emoji], maybe up to the red river for a nice long ride.
