Jackpot on the stacks today.  Drove by a semi parts yard and saw a assload of stacks all over the place.  I pulled in and talked to the guy, he said the city was forcing him to move so he was happy to sell off some stuff.  I picked up a pair of 5" chrom stacks in decent shape.  Just needs a little polish on them and they are golden.  $60 for the pair :)  He has to take them off the rigs and I will pick them up tomorrow.  Happy camper today :)
lol ... i just got ahold of a pair of these myself at a flea market.  my build is almost complete, and the stacks really make it stand out.

Are you guys planning to weld them on the inside so that the chrome does not burn off as bad?

surprisingly enough, the chrome really doesn't burn off ... i laid some stout beads and had zero issue with the chrome peeling.  i'll post a close up pic tomorrow.

Good deal,

I was actually just making a guess that it would peal in the haz (heat affected zone) from the weld. Will be good to know for future projects.

Make sure you post some pic. during and after the build. Sounds like its gonna be a sweet smoker in the end. GOOD LUCK with the build.

Here is a pic of them.  5" Chrome.  I brought them to my shop and buffed them out with rubbing compound.  They are different lengths, but I plan on cutting the rusty end off the shorter one, and cutting the other to match. Probley use what is left on the longer one for the stack on top of the warming keg :)   I will apply something on the endcut so it wont rust. I need to fab some kind of baffle or cap for the top.   Not bad for $60. :)
