Hello,

So my Brother wants me to cook a whole pig on my smoker which is made from a 55 gallon drum layed horizontally.  The cooking area is 24" wide by 36 or 38 " long.  Now i know it would be a small pig but roughly what size, weight would we be talking here ?   Also how long do they take 24 hours or so?    Thank you

Dan

after dressed I would say 35-40 lbs. when we do em open fire, a 50 pounder is a lil large for that cooker so between 30 and 40 would do good. a small pig slow roasted in a pit probably 8-9 hours. My last one I did was 50lbs and I started it around 6am and by 3pm I had to take it off because I was scared it would dry out because it had been falling apart. And that was cooked on a rotisserie beside a campfire.
