I would maybe hose it out if you want to but why??? I clean out my smoker usually once a year and thats just a good hosing out. But other then that I see your really new here so....

First off welcome Chuck to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again

Welcome to Your New Addiction

I use a Scotchbrite pad on the window and a hot water wipe on the door gasket. Other than that the cabinet in not messed with unless the drip pan overflows or isn't aligned properly and don't drain like it should. Line your water pan and drip pan with foil before smoking to make cleanup easy. Throw the pans and the grills into the dishwasher after smoking and then spray them with cooking spray after you finish cleaning and air drying the window and door seal.

Since the MES 40" is an electric smoker I would not recommend using a hose on it unless you want to risk damaging the electrics.  Somewhere on here are several posts about cleaning the window and inside but since changing to the new format I have lost my links and will have to hunt for them.

You can do a search for MES and should be able to find all posts relating to them.  Also you might PM Ronp and see what he recommends, he is our resident MES expert.

Also Welcome to SMF

I use rubing alcohol in a spray bottle with a few drops of Dawn. I would not hose down the interior like Paul said.
