Scott here. I do apologize for not posting in this forum before I posted my question last night, but it was a long day and well past bedtime--Roll Call did not stand out...didn't find it till this morning. Anyway, I am smoking up the Shenandoah Valley this morning with my new Brinkmann Green Gourmet Smoker. Didn't have a lot of money to spend on a nice smoker yesterday and figured i'd start out small. Already, I wish I had a welder and some steel, I would fix me up a nice big-rig. Anyway, as I am typing, I have about a 7 to 8 lb brisket on the smokey that I was given to smoke for memorial day today. Hope it all turns out. And so glad I found this forum. If its as helpful and fun as my gun forums I use, I am going to have to buy my wife her own computer, I'll be in my forums all the time now! Many thanks guys and gals!!!!

Welcome aboard! There's lots of great folks that can help with just about anything! Good luck with that brisket, my first one was a disaster, but everything else so far has been great.

Welcome to the SMF!  Don't forget to post pictures (Qview) when you're done smoking that thing!

Welcome to SMF Thaddy! Hope you do learn and have fun on this site, I know I do. Hey Squirrel, that Brisket wasn't a disaster, it was an opportunity to improve the next time.

Welcome to the forums, Thaddy.  You may as well start that second-computer fund now for the wife, because you will be needing it.

Welcome to the SMF family! Glad to have you with us. You're starting out with the same smoker I started out with, and they're fun and easy to use. Lots of mods on the site are available to be read, that have been performed by other SMF members.

Looking forward to some future posts and qvue from you!

First off welcome Scott to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of really good folks that would just love to help you with anything to do with smoking. Now we like having new folks here to give a new prospective on some of the ways we do things around here. Now if you are really new then I would suggest that you sign up fir the 5-day E-course it free and it will give you the basics on smoking and a few recipes too. Here's a link to it:

http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/forum/list/127

then you will have a method to your newly found madness and believe me it will be a madness. Then when you start smoking things you will have to learn how to post the pictures / Qview

here. So here's a link to a tutorial on how to post your Qview so we can see what your doing.

Now the next thing you have to do is run out and get something to smoke. Then just smoke it and if you have any questions just post  them here and we will answer all your questions that you might have. Oh yea there's no stupid questions we were all there in the beginning and we just really like to help others enjoy the fabulous smoked foods that we do. So again
