Smokin-It brand smoker?

Hey folks,

Does anyone here happen to own a Smokin-It model 1 brand electric smoker? This thing looks identical to the Cookshack and SmokinTex, but for $250.00 it seems like the best deal of the bunch.

I mean, how different can little stainless steel boxes with racks and single heating elements really be, right? I'd appreciate any kind of information you guys could throw my way. smile.gif

Not sure about that smoker itself but the price seems kind of high for something so small.

Cabin Fever

It looks to be made of good quality materials and customer reviews on it are all positive. The 350 watt heating element seems low for cold climate smoking to me though.

Found it here for $222.49 - http://www.grillingspecialties.com/s...r_by_Smokin-It
For $249 Smokin-It offers a free cover and Amazon may be offering free shipping, just saw it offered on the site, not positive it was for that product.

Nice build, but too tiny and weak for me.
The MES is probably a better route to go.

Talked to another member here (Glenn T) who owns the model #1 and he had nothing but praise for his unit so I decided to give it a try. The 30 day money back guarantee sold me as I'll only be out $22.00 for return shipping if I'm not happy with it.

I just got one of these for Xmas and it's GREAT!  It is pretty small, but it's very solid and heavy and you can still put a surprising amount of meat in it.  Since it is well insulated the element doesn't need to be that powerful.  If you get one of them standing rib racks you can cook 6 feet of big baby back ribs and still have the top shelf open for the beef.

Here's why I got this one:

Simple - very few moving parts to break.

Easily replaceable parts, including the heating element.

Mom & Pop company in Ohio.  Made in China, but that's hard to avoid these days.

Very solid contruction & good insulation.

I can use it for cold smoking, with the right accessories.

other positive reviews.
