Buck Futta and I did our first pork butt today. It was only a 5 pounder with the bone in. Dry rub was the 'Magic Dust" with a few minor alterations.

About 6 hours into it we covered it. And this is the final result. Bone just popped out completely unprovoked.

Smoke ring turned out nicely.

The last picture was a little too late to get the full affect but unfortunately we had waited too long to eat and so that picture is minus 2 sandwiches and at least several heaping bites.

Was damn tasty and got some really good bbq sauce from our butchers that they make fresh every couple of weeks. Dog was happy with the bone for the 30 minutes before he had finished it.

Well, since you have some left, vacu seal it & send some over. Nice looking pork.

Sure was tasty and well worth the wait!

I used some Chimayo Chili Powder and about a teaspoon of Chipotle that my mom gets shipped in from New Mexico instead of Paprika in the rub and cut the quantity in half and it really set it off! Not too spicy but just enough kick! It was great!

Looks great! Once you get the hang of pork shoulders, it becomes an addiction. I do several a month now, and we portion the leftovers for lunches and dinners.
