Hi everyone, I am new to the "Smoking" world so please bear with me and my questions. I have wanted a MES for a couple of years now and have read and researched them to the point of of exhaustion. My poor husband hears about smoking this and smoking that, tried smoking on the propane BBQ (worked ok, but it wasn't my MES), tried the little weber kettle charcoal grill, made my own from Alton Browns instructions etc...But it wasn't what I needed and wanted sooooo bad....The MES! Well the hubby and friends did a trip to Cabela's this last Saturday, I asked him to PLEASE look at the smokers there and especially the Masterbuilt so he could give me his opinion, after all it is alot of money on something I don't know much about. Well guess what he came home with???? MY MES! I HAVE ONE!!!! OMG!! I am soooo excited about it and not one of my friends understands my excitement. The hubby found "it" in the bargain cave and it had one little scratch on it and they had marked it down from $299.00 to $175.00! Score a home run for the husband. Anyway Saturday night I was out on my deck at 11:00 pm firing her up to get it cured, and running up to the Safeway at midnight to find something the "Smoke". Made a run to Costco on Sunday and found a brisket that I am going to try on Easter...keep your fingers crossed. I am putting some chicken on today and I will see what happens. I just had to share my excitement with people who understand the love of a good smoke. I have watched and read threads from this forum for the past couple of years and have learned more than I think, this is a nice group of people and I look foward to chatting about my sucess's and failures. Whooo who I have my smoker! Oh my husband knows me so well, he couldn't have given me anything better in the whole world. Thanks for listening to me rant, but I am so excited.
Lynn

Welcome to the forum Lynn, glad you joined. I thought you might have been from south Louisiana as long winded as that was. If my wife was to buy me the smoker I want, I would be talking up a storm too. Well glad you joined us here and as Pineywoods said, get the camera ready we like qview.

Hello Lynn, and welcome to the smoking world at SMF. Your enjoyment will increase by double fold, thanks to your husband and your MES. It's all good my friend.

Ha,ha, no I am not from Louisiana but I can go on and on about the things I love...don't get me started on my little dog's, they will be sitting right beside me tonight watching the "thin blue smoke" coming from my MES, knowing there is a treat in there for them also. I know my husband wanted me to find something else as a hobbie other than dogs ( I had to sign a statement I wouldn't get anymore) so now he's happy about the smoking hobbie and all the good eats...until I try to start smoking the pancakes on Sunday morning!

Welcome Lynn, to smf, can't wait to see some of your qview, I'm new to smokin, and my wife thinks I'm obsessed with this site, but I haven't heard any complaints about the food.
