Newb from North carolina

Hello Everyone, My name is Doug. I am from Mooresville, North Carolina. I have been lurking the site for about three weeks and love it. I do industrial HVAC and love to camp, ride four wheelers, cook and yes.... I love to eat!!! I am from Columbia, SC(Elgin), but have been working in Charlotte for 25 years.
I have a Chargriller Duo Model #5050 with the added side fire box. I also have an MES purchased three weeks ago and so far it has not had a weekend off since. I have smoked a Boston Butt, chicken breast and just last night I smoked some Country ribs using the 321 method. Thanks to all of your posts and recipes, All three were home runs. I look forward to digging deeper into the site and see what else I can smoke/grill.

Welcome to SMF Doug. Glad you found us and we look forward to seeing your setup and smoke results. Since you're in the heart of Carolina, make sure you share a favorite sauce or recipe with the rest of us. I got hooked on BBQ after visiting my brother in Jamestown and we hit some small shack of a place on the way to Murtle Beach SC.

Welcome aboard Doug. I love Mooresville. I was invited to Dale Earnhardt Inc to attend Dale Earnhardt Day in 06 in Mooresville. I own a custom 2004 Intimidator that was chosen along with 7 other cars to be put on display during the festivities. It was kind of a whirlwind tour but I loved the area. Is History's restaraunt still there? That was a great place.
Hope to get back there one day.

Look forward to hearing more from you and seeing some qview. icon_smile.gif

Thanks for the warm welcome from all. jjwdiver, My favorite sauce is Maurice's from Columbia area. It is a mustard base sauce that is off the hook on pulled pork and pork chops. I like to grill pork chops with some garlic powder and Goya adobo and start mopping in the last 15 miutes on both sides and let it melt in. Then just before pulling them off, I through a piece of cheese on each. This is great finger food...lol. (yes we eat with our fingers down here). Ok, not all the time but when the opportunity arises.

solaryellow: Hello neighbor, I go through there on occasion and I like the area. I have done work at some plants in the area as well as the airport. I used to have to go to Eden often and would go via Watertown so i could stop at the Sheets. You could not buy Utz chips in Charlotte at that time and I would swing in to Sheets and pick up some smokin sweets.

3montes: I live about 5 minutes from DE Inc. and was a true Earnhardt fan. I gave up watching the races after that. I will catch one once in a while but it was a religion in this household every week end. I have a wife who loved racing as much as I did. These days we take our four wheelers to Carolina Adventures regularly and take our dogs camping when ever we manage time off. I believe History's is still on main. That's the two story across from the old depot. Thanks again for the responses.
