Hi all, many thanks to the mods and members who contribute to this great site!

I've been here for a couple of days and have already signed up to the 5 day course and bought Jeff's rub and sauce recipe.

I am in the process of building a smoker (125 gal) and was leaning towards a double barrel type. But, after searching this site, I really like the looks of the reverse flow unit. What are the pro's and con's of each?

Looking forward to learning from the pro's

I'm glad I found this site! BTW keep an eye out for another new member ....fogducker.... he is the fellow that will be fabricating the smoker. Any and all help would be appreciated.

First of all I am still mad at your hockey team!!!!!!!!!PDT_Armataz_01_19.gif Just kidding!!!!! Welcome to the SMF. I can't help you with any info on a reverse flow as I have no experience with them at all but I know someone will be along soon to give you some info. Make sure you post pictures of your build and post them on here. We love seeing that kind of stuff. I can't wait to see some qview come from your new pit.

Yeah, sorry about that hockey game ehicon_mrgreen.gif, was a close one though. I will post pics as they come. This might sound like a real newbie question (cause it is) what is a Qview?icon_redface.gif

Qview is pictures of your smoking meat. Its what we love on this forum. We love looking at everyones smokings and drool over them.

Also just a bit of info if you see items in bold green such as UDS, Qview, BGE just put your curser over them and there will be a little pop up that will appear and explain what it is. They are just abreviations.

First off welcome Bullwinkle to SMF. It sounds like you are well on your way to be an outstanding new member of this fine site. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.
Here's a link to photobucket it's free and easy to download pictures. Then if your really new to smoking Look up the E-course.
It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
Welcome To Your New Addiction

Welcome to SMF, Glad to have you with us. This is the place to learn, lots of good info and helpful friendly Members.

For Those of you New to Smoking, be sure to check out Jeff's 5 Day Smoking Basics eCourse.
Click Here it's "FREE" ... 5 Day eCourse

I Would Highly Suggest Reading these posts on Food Safety by bbally.

This thread will tell you basically everything you need to know and the man explaining it is
both a ServSafe Instructor and a HACCP Instructor.

Here you can get the 2009 USDA Food Safety Guide from his site.

How to post Qview to Forum:

When you uploading to Photobucket I always use the Large IMG setting, 640 x 480 it is a nice size...

Everyone here enjoys seeing the Qview so be sure to post plenty of pics...

Large ones that us old people with bad eyes can see.

Hi Dave, I'm in southern Ontario, but wander up your way in the fall for my annual moose hunt (International falls/Ft. Frances area) plenty of great walley fishing lakes for sure.

I think I'm hooked on this site...icon_mrgreen.gif
