New to smokin

Thread Starter
After drooling all over myself watching a buddy smoke a brisket, I went out and bought a Treager last night. I am planning on cooking a Prime Rib this weekend. I found a local meat supplier that has PR at $4.85/lb. Any suggestions on rubs?

Howdy, welcome to the SMF!!

PR doesn't need much by way of rub, CBP, garlic powder & some celery salt would do nicely.

Go back to the Traeger place. Traeger has a pretty good Prime Rib Rub. Also, take 1/2 cup of the rub, wrap in cheese cloth and soak in cold water for a half hour or so. Use the mixture for an injection. My family went nuts over the last PR I did this way.icon_smile.gif

Glad to know you've joined the SMF. As far as rubs are concerned, you can start out with Jeff's rub and sauce. The link should be on the left hand side of your screen. Once you've got that down, you can tweak it to your own likings, as it a great starter base as well. It's all good my friend.
