Looks nice, and lots of headroom.

Probably a regular metal drum inside the wood?
If so, it must be very fuel efficient.

you guys ever move one of those babies around? exremely heavy. And cheap, probably 25 a barrel. those are fire seared in the inside, wonder if they smolder? looks like they hold good heat tho. imo

Well ya done now by posting that pic. I bet several of us are dreaming up plans for our drums now. I am now. Just have to remove the Jayhawk plaque and put it on the outside of the wood.

looks cool....bourbon barrels here in ky have gone really high....around 75 bucks each now

I just saw the thread this morning on "another" cooking forum where this one or one very similiar was built. To keep from burning up the barrel, he kept about an inch of water in the bottom of barrel, fire pan was elevated 3" off bottom, and he kept his temp under 300*. Every 2-3 smokes, he would fill barrel with water to swell barrel staves and keep moisture in the wood.
