Hello from NM

Thread Starter

I have been cooking on a gas grill for the past 15 years and just now starting to get into smoking (with a real smoker anyways) I have done several briskets on my gas grill it has a built in smoker box. I bought a split door brinkmann charcoal smoker from wal-mart and have used it a couple of times and as of this morning I just finished building a brick fire pit and plan on cooking with it. I found this forum and seen that it had a lot of good info and figured I better get in on it.

Thanks for all the welcomes, I will take some pics of my brick pit as soon as I can it is currently snowing, it sucks I was hoping to fire it up today. I live between Farmington and Aztec and definitely love the green chile. There is a place outside of Aztec called sutherland farms and that is where we get our green chile and I will take whole chiles and sprinkle some garlic salt on them and throw em on the grill yummy! I also work in the oilfields here and with all the bad weather, we have been getting shut down a lot so it gives me time to play at home. From the looks of it outside right now I may not be working tomorrow, oh well maybe I can smoke something instead.icon_wink.gif

First off welcome Love to SMF. It sounds like you are well on your way to be an outstanding new member of this fine site. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.
Here's a link to photobucket it's free and easy to download pictures. Then if your really new to smoking Look up the E-course.
It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.
