Need help with keeping quarters overnight

I'm doing 24 chicken quarters to take to a family after a funeral tomorrow. Their 3-year old died from cancer. I'm cooking them now because we'll be at the funeral in the morning. They'll be done in about 2 hours. What's the best way to make sure these are warm and moist when we take them to the church tomorrow around noon?

johnnie, god bless you and what you are going through, i have two kids and they are all i live for, i could never imagine the grief and pain of losing one of them it is just unimaginable for me, i'm sure the quarters will be fine and the temp will be the least of the worries please give my heartfelt condolences to the parents and i hope they can get through this, i dont know how i could

Put them in a warm oven 200-250 a few hours before you leave and check the temps so as not to dry them out.

That's a nice thing you are doing.

Oh man, what a tough thing for you and the family and everyone else to go through. Yes, God bless all of you. I can't even imagine.

About your chicken...seems awful to even discuss food now...

The skin will likely be tough and chewy, but leave it on for reheating it'll help keep it moist and help with the flavor during the reheat. I'd suggest putting them in a foil pan covered with foil and set you're oven to 275-300. Probably take a couple of hours to get back up to temp.

I second that about the pans!!! I got the kind with LIDS on them, they make for a GREAT way to keep things warm and moist. wrapped in towels or even stacked in a large cooler, they will stay warm for a long time.

Thanks for all the well-wishes. She went this for 10 months hoping to beat it. She went into remission but it came back a few months later and there was no treatment.

Regarding the chicken, are you guys meaning to put it in the fridge overnight and then in the oven tomorrow morning?

It would be good if we could leave in the (electric) smoker on a low temp, but I'm afraid it would spoil or dry out.

sorry to hear about the youngster, its to bad. when they suggested warming them up in pans, maybe put a little apple juice in to help keep from drying out.

No problem just set it at 150' if you can and you will be fine. That would be the best soloution or the oven.

You might take them off the smoker and vacuum pack. Then into the fridge. Warm them up in the packages immersing them in boiling water a few minutes. I did that with buckboard bacon out of the freezer this morning and it worked great. Nothing drys out.

I put the chicken in the fridge overnight and then heated at 275 in the oven the next morning for about two hours in a covered pan. The chicken turned out great and it was appreciated.

Thanks for the help and for the thoughts and well-wishes to the family of this child. It has been a very tough thing for them to endure.

My condolences to the family. Parents are not supposed to bury their kids. It is suppose to work the other way. Our prayers are with you and the family.

First off I'm really sorry for yours and your families lose. I know that cancer is an ugly an knows no ages. It is nice of you to do such a nice gester too. Now for your chicken I would put them into a food saver bags and then just boil some water and heat them up that way. It should only take about 20 minutes to re-heat all of them and that way you won't have any oven on with nobody home. Once again I'm really sorry.
