The "Show Me" state
NFL Playoff weekend simple barbecue, long time in coming. Been a while since we did something simple and tasty. The weather is cooperating nicely. It's 43F today and I'm in shorts and t-shirt.

Everything melting away...

Gonna do the thighs in Caputo's BBQ sauce from an exchange with POLISHMEAT, and the legs with a sauce from a guy at work I trade with. I used his sauce last summer on shortribs and it was great.

Chicken going on nekkid over hardwood charcoal and mesquite. I want to compare the taste of both sauces with no distractors.

Looking good after an hour or so and a couple coats of sauces...

Mrs Rivet made some beautiful 1/2 lb burgers-

With grilled spring onions for a side of crunchy sweetness-

Plated swiss burger and the rest. The sauces were excellent and Caputo's although really spicy straight from the bottle really mellowed out nicely after the grill. I was worried the zing would put off folks, but it turned out excellent and perfect for chicken. Thanks, POLISHMEAT, that's great BBQ sauce!

That plate of food is picture perfect man !!

MMMmmmm... that looks mighty tasty Rivet!!!! I've got burger on the menu in the next few days, and might just have to add some bbq yardbird!

Yes now that was a very nice plate of food you presented us with there John. I like the looks of the chicken I like the fact that someone else serves it carmelized also. I seen to get the chicken right to the last couple of minutes and the whole grill blows up in flames. The used of spring onions is also nice to see someone esle that likes them I love them and the wife hates them. It's hard to make a salad sometimes.

Thanks, Mark and you are so right...got to get the chicken just rightly done, but you do have to watch it closely at the end. Glad to hear you like the grilled spring onions, nothing better! Sorry Mrs Balli doesn't like them, but they are onions- and they aren't for everyone!

That is a great looking meal John, I torn as to which looks better right now but i would love either some chicken or one of those burgers!
Love those shots of grilling out with snow on the ground, and really...shorts? Man, still too cold for that!

That's some fine lookin Q.
Got my hands on 4 aged prime 1.5" rib eyes for the saints game yesterday. Grilled em over a pecan fire.
After the game and the saints had won, The wife asked what i was going to do next weekend ? How do i top prime beef???
Grilled lobster?

That looks really good! I wish I was there to help you eat! We're thinking of smoking burgers next time we get the chance to. Can't wait to see how they'll compare with those beauties.

That is one fine looking plate of food. I love the grilled onions, they are the best. We get them a lot with Mexican Food here and it sometimes is the best part of the plate!!

Rivet that does look like some sweet summertime fare. Sometimes these simple looking smokes are the best looking. Now I'm craving some Iowa sweet corn. C'mon summer!
