Hey guys and gals

I stummbled on to this forum and found a gold mine of info. Lots to read about and I posted a thread about some equipment and got many responses right away.

Little about myself...I am a graduate from UNT (1994) with a degree in Radio TV and film. I them did a hitch in the US Navy where I served on a aircraftcarrier. I then got out and got a MCSE certification and worked in the computer biz for many years. I am currently working with commercial truck tire company.

I currently have a home built smoker trailer and a backyard smoker. The back yard unit I built with no plans or designs... just started welding it up, its turned out very well.

I am actively collecting parts to build another trailer rig, which is where I found a wealth of info on reverse design smokers and gas assisted pipe burners. I work on my smokers and others when I am not building demolition derby cars. It helps justify some of the really expensive welding and cutting toys I have.

I have been bbqing for several years and have thought about maybe competing but dont really like all the presentation bs that goes with it. Just wish they did one based on taste.... winner take all

Thanks for the well wishes. I appreciate it. Seems like the thing to do on a snowy christmas eve.

I would not consider myself a master fab guy by any stretch but I can tell those who are taking on projects (no matter how big or small) ... take your time. Measure 3 times and think about them about 10x.

Here is a pic of my back yard smoker. This was built out of a LP gas tank for a truck. The firebox was done by myself. Again this was built not no plans or drawings. This is the unpainted results.

Here is the painted one:

Here are a few various parts of the build:

I think it would be good to just have a picture section. Im a very visual person so seeing the idea (or stealing it) would make it a ton easier to see others ideas and how to work them in to your project.

Any questions or comments feel free to ask. I learned a ton of what not to do on this project but this build was about 5 years ago so theres a lot more info out on the web now days.

Welcome, neighbor (Fort Worth here)! Looks like you've got some great skills and tool-toys to go with it too! Always wanted to learn metal-working, but I know my wife would kill me if I started yet another expensive hobby, lol!
Anything you need to know about meat, don't hesitate to ask. Like everyone else on here, we're all glad to help and share knowledge in any way we can! Just post lots of Qview (like you've done!) because we love to drool!
