Hello from Holland

Thread Starter
Holland, Michigan that is. We are in the SW corner of the state on the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. I've been a Q nut for quite a while and enjoy everything involved with it. We have 6 or 7 State Comps. (KCBS) and I try to make most of them. I am a KCBS CBJ and was able to judge 5 events this past summer. Next summer I should be able to complete my Master BBQ judge requirements. So far I have never entered a comp. but who knows. This past July I did 100# of pork for a freinds wedding reception. I worried about taste and timing but it worked out great.
I belong to several forums and enjoy them all. Always looking for that new idea, recipe or suggestion. Great things always seem to come from the most unexpected source!
Besides BBQ I enjoy making sourdough breads - no bread machine in my house. The very best part of my life is my 4 grandchildren.

Welcome to the Smokin Meat Forum.

Good to have you here Ron. I make my bread both sourdough and regular bread in the Dutch oven. I have several Lodge 3 legged ovens.

Fresh bread baked at a camp always turns heads and gains recruits to the cast iron cooking side of the hobby.

Check out my bread Made in the Dutch Oven.

Lots of helpful stuff in this link for the newbies.
