New to Smoking

Thread Starter
Hey everybody. Want to get into smoking, but I'm not sure which smoker to get. Will probably never smoker large amounts of meat or do it extremely frequently, but would do it every once in a while for some tasty food. Was thinking about getting the following smoker. Is it good and do you guys think it will work for my occasional smoking needs?

Welcome to the SMF! I think the Brinkmann will do fine for you. I especially like the dual door system on it and wish more had them. Only thing about the Brinkmann's is that you'll need to make sure it gets covered or stored out of the weather as I hear they're notorious for corroding.

Good Starter and as was mentioned, a rain cover would be an excellent addition. I keep one on my GOSM even though its under cover. Rain seems to be more horizontal in Western Washington. Welcome aboard.

Forgot to comment about your smoker selection. I am a beginner myself but from what I have read on here I think that it would be a great starter smoker. However it looks pretty slim so you might have trouble get full racks of ribs and your larger meats to fit. Check out the GOSM. I just got one and put it together last night but its gotten great reviews from SMF and the reviews from the store. Just my opinion.

Yup, won't be long and he'll be shopping a new wide body or a SFB model. If it gets bad enough he'll have three or more smokers! PDT_Armataz_01_37.gif

First Off

Welcome to the family, glad you found us

You will find a ton of good information floating around in here

Don't be afraid to ask questions and remember, the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask.

Check out the 5 day ecourse it is definitely worth it

Good Luck And Happy Smokes

Let me start with this one

While this is an honorable intention, be fore warned that smoking meat can quickly become an addiction. Just ask anyone on here....or better yet ask my wife, she can give you an ear full.

I can;t help you with that smoker because I have never used a propane smoker, however, I am sure plenty of others can give you sound advice on it.

I prefer stick burners and charcoal smokers personally.

Good luck
