Reheating Pulled Pork

Thread Starter
Anyone have any ideas how high an oven temp to reheat pulled pork and to what degrees it should be reheated to?

I have never really paid it all too much thought.

I prefer to cover it in a low temp oven (<300*) and just long enough to take the chill off. To help keep it from drying out, I either sauce it or microwave it covered with a damp cloth.

If you can get it in a vaccum sealed bag that is safe in boiling water, that is one of the best ways.

Water boiling @ 212F brings it pretty much back to the temp it was done at, plus you have its own juices to keep moist in the sealed bag.

We probably aren't very picky around here.
If you're heating a large amount for a number of people, I can't help you, but if it's heating some up for only a couple sammies, we just put it in a bowl (pushing it outward leaving a hole in the middle) and nuke it. Maybe my tastebuds are shot, but to me it's almost as good as it was fresh. There are things that don't nuke up very good, but IMO pulled pork is not one of them.

There are people here that say just throw it i the micro-wave and there's nothing wrong with that. I would if it's in a food saver bag just put it in some boiling water or even a steamer (thats the way I use) pot or oasta pot and re-heat it that way. It almost seems like it will add moisture to your meat too.

We did some over the holiday, put in the crock pot for a while with some low sodium chicken broth worked excellent. I read that tip on here one time.

Thats how I reheat mine most of the time.

Yep, ziplock bags work fine too. It will get mushy if you leave it in boiling water too long.

We like to pan fry it and add some hot spices to make great carnitas tacos. Just add a little bit of oil to get it started, but hopefully there is enough fat to make a nice sizzle
then just add onions, avo and some salsa

That's the way to go...

I will have to try the boiling water. Thanks for the tip.
