Please share your opinions. I have a costco spiralcut pre cooked ham.Am going to smoke it up to 140*. It came with a glaze packet. The last sentance in the glaze prep instructions is "Glaze ham as instructed in brochure". There is no brochure! So , should I glaze first and smoke to temp, or glaze after 1,2,or 3 hours in the smoker? Thanks for helping.

I did a spiral cut pre cooked ham in the oven trhis am. made a coca cola glaze for it . 1 can cola , 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/4 tsp powdered cloves and 1 tsp cayanne ? Glazed after puting in roasting pan. (use a turkey baster) Cover pan tightley w/ foil and heat in 325 deg oven till hot.

Oh man I made that ham that Jeff talked about in the newsletter. You have to have his recipe for the rub and sauce though. It turned out great, you have to try it. If you already have the recipe, I can forward you the newsletter, but I can't share the secrets...

Smoke the ham first and then bring it in and glaze it in the oven because the glaze needs heat to melt and set.

Here are the instructions that go with that glaze packet....

"Remove ham from oven approximately 1/2 hour before end of recommended warming time. Empty contents of brown sugar glaze packet into small saucepan. Add 1/2 tablespoon of warm water. Heat glaze mixture on high, stirring constantly, until glaze begins to boil. Remove immediately from heat. Using a glaze brush, apply glaze immediately by brushing it evenly over the surface of the warm ham. (For a thicker coating, allow glaze to cool 4 to 5 minutes before applying to ham.) Bake glazed ham at 225 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes. Remove glazed ham from oven and serve."

I usually use pineapple juice reserved from a can instead of the water, because I place pineapple rings on my ham for presentation.
