Finally decided to sign up on this sweet forum. I have been hosting a pig pickin' for the last 12 years now. I started in the ground (for the first 5 years), then my wife suprised me on our anniversary with a custom pull behind smoker that her Dad built for me! (mounted on a jet ski trailer). I have always had about a 100lb dressed pig on the grill (or in the hole), but this year I decided to try my hand at butts. Definitely a lot easier to get my hands on versus ordering a pig and hoping it's right when I pick it up! I found a lot of great info on this site. I guess the main thing I am looking for right now is a good sop. I would like to find a recipe that I can use in a spray bottle instead of having to mop it on. Any suggestions?

Welcome aboard!

Sounds like you've got a nice rig to play with my friend.

?

I normally load up my spray bottle with apple juice and jack daniels old
#7, or Captain Morgan's spiced rum.

Good luck and good smoking.

Welcome to the SMF. You'll find all the answers right here. I use a 50/50 mix of apple juice and light rum most of the time. Sometimes I switch to cherry or cranberry juice mix.

Welcome to SMF from a soggy Oregon! I too am a JD Old No. 7 and apple juice sprayer and I dare say it works well!
