well, after listening to everyone, i decided to go with the suggestion by BBQ Engineer and try some brats for my very first smoke.
i got a couple of packs of Johnsonvilles and some applewood chips and fired up the SNP.

Man, i will never look at a bratwurst the same.....these are totally awesome smoked!!!!

Q-View to follow, right now i gotta get ready for a halloween partybiggrin.gif

Glad it turned out, nothing like a smoked sausage, unless maybe it is a home made fresh smoked sausage.
If you are able to get your hangs on some chunks of wood give that a try, I almost always use chunks due to the size of the fire box and charcoal basket on my sNp and have found that chips burn so quick I have to replenish too often.
Looking forward to the pics, have fun at the party.

No question about that! Several years ago we were tailgating and one of my friends brought out a small smoker he made from a pair of old LP tanks and smoked some brats and man-o-man were they good! 'Tis a rare occasion where we have them now and they aren't smoked...a rare occasion indeed!

Congrats on your first run!

Congats on your first smoke and I'm really glad that everything came out good for you. But now you know how it feels to complete a good smoke some now go out and do it again and again and again.

Hey Ottawa,

Now that's what I'm talking about! I love smoked brats, and it is rare that I do a smoke that I don't throw in some brats or italian sausage too...they are just too good and all of my guests always grab some chunks of sausage to fill out their plates. Good looking smoke ring on those, and you can tell a good smoke due to the reddish hue to the outside. Perfect job.

Now, put that in your bag of tricks, and move on to something else next week...don't hesitate to ask some questions if you get stuck or have a moment of panic. Just relax, we are all here to help you. I think with this smoke, you are well on your way! PDT_Armataz_01_37.gif
