Who has one and how do you like it.the reason I ask is I just picked one up for less than a song and it's new not even broken in. my Dad had one when I was growing up,but I did'nt get to use it much.any ideas will be vary helpfull. So how many of you out there?

I have a little chief and i love it!! I use it as a cold smoker. I have found a way to get it up to 200, but it involves insulated blankets, and a second heating element. But they are definitely a must have in my opinion. It takes a while to get it up to around 175 so long as you DONT lift the lid, and i recommend warming the chips before you add them. It dips quite a lot when you re-chip otherwise and takes a bit to get back up to temp. But if temp is not what you are after, then you have no worries!!! I use mine to smoke fully cooked kielbasa before i slice it up and put it in red beans and rice. I say get one!! just dont expect to cook on it unless you are willing to wrap it and be very very patient.

i agree 100% with the post above - it is NOT for smoke-cooking food or bbq, but it was designed for works very well for things such as sausage, cheese, jerky, nuts, chipotles and basic smoke flavoring of any food.

as long as you remember what it was designed for, it is excellent. just like anything else, if you try to use it outside its desgin, then you will be disappointed.

i've got a .pdf of the insturction/recipe booklet. if you'd like a copy, let me know or send an email.
