I recently purchased a ecb vertical square charcoal smoker. Just successfully modified it to electric... I plan to post pictures as soon as I find my digital camera.

I am in the process of curing it and I just discoverd the door thermometer is a pos. I'm currently using my digital meat thermometer for internal reads but I don't anticipate doing this permanently. Any suggestions on mods to add additional thermometers?

Also, I'm very interested in hearing any other mod suggestions.

Goose,

Just my 2 cents worth but if you are close to a walmart and have the luck of the irish...you might be able to find some thermometers on close out. I found 3 of them the other night. Going to use them in my UDS that is in progress. They are Grill mates....all 3 are 10 degrees off....and cost 13.00 marked down from 20.00. You will need a 1/2 npt (national pipe thread) hole to mount them in....approx 3/4 inch hole.

Good luck from Denver.....

or get yourself a maverick 73 dual probe, one probe for the meat and the other probe for smoker box. it allows you to set high and lo smoker box parameters as well as an internal temp parmeter wich will all set off an alarm on a wireless remote. i have had cheap thermos and they are exactly that.

Paul gave you a good source, I have three therms on the door of my GOSM. You'll be glad when you replace the original. Do check for calibration.
