Hello,

My name is Jeremiah. I am just getting into smoking. Right now I have a gas grill, but last weekend I made some fatties on it using the foil/smoke bomb method. I looking on getting a smoker here soon so I can start smoking more. I saw that there was a gathering here recently in this area. Maybe next time I'll be able to join.

Welcome to SMF glad you decided to join us. You'll find lots of good info and some great recipes here. Keep an eye on Craigslist for smokers too sometimes you can find some great deals there. Sorry you missed the gathering it was fun for sure
 
Well if your like most of us just one type won't be enough once you get started

Not a full blown Qview like I have seen so far, but it is what I have from the fatties I did last weekend. When my friends made it over and they saw them they said, "I don't know what that is, but it looks AWESOME!"

They hadn't been on too long at this point.
 
Hello Jeremiah from Iowa. Those fatties look good. And great job on doing the bacon weave on your first attempt. Nice work. Looking forward to seeing some of your future work.
 
First off welcome Jeremiah to SMF. What part of jax cause we have a good amount (4-5) of folks here I'm on the Northside and there's Mike on the southside. You'll like it here cause there are abunch of good folks here that would just love to help you out with just about anything to do with smoking. We really like to have newbies here because they can bring in a new propective to how things are done. There's nothing like a new set of eyes to give and new way to make things that little differant to make things alittle better. So I hope you know about the Qview here.

It's also free and it will give you the basics of smoking. So after all of that you just need to go grab something to smoke and if you have any question just post them here and we will answer it quickly so you don't have any mishaps with your smoke.

Thanks for the warm welcome all! It's definitely not like some forums where the established are elitists.

I actually live in Middleburg, but work in Jacksonville (Near the Avenues mall). 32 miles each way, but I have been doing it for 10+ years now so I am used to it.
 
Does anyone in the Jax area go to the Jags games and tailgate beforehand? I have been to the first 2 games this year, and plan on picking up some tickets for Sunday's game.
