Hi all. I've lurked here a few times over the past year or so, but decided to create an account after looking at some of the builds going on in the Wood smoker section. I've been BBQing for about 3 years now. I played with it off and on for many years, but after retiring the awful Chargrill charcoal H2O POS I was using, I ended up buying a GOSM propane vertical smoker (cheapy from Wally world). That really got me going. I try to cook *something* every weekend. I've since graduated to a UDS earlier this year, I love it. It was a lot of fun to build too. However, I have the itch to build another unit. I really want to build an offset. Maybe even a reverse flow, mounted on a trailer. I'd really like to start doing competitions someday (I still need a TON more practice). I have 1 project left to finish (tranny swap in my "spare" Jeep) and then I think I can start looking for a 150-200 gallon LP tank to get started. My wife has been pretty supportive, even when I take pictures of the food I cook (food pr0n!... our kids don't really get it though). So.. that's where I'm at right now. Two of the other forums I visit on a daily basis are bbq-brethren.com and thesmokering.com Looking forward to making this forum another morning "must read" when I get to work.

Hey Dedmete,

Love the originality in your user name. Welcome to SMF. If you have been lurking, you already know what great information is here. Take some pics for us, as we love to see what you are doing.

Oh, and here's a pic of my baby: Makin' Bacon'. It's a UDS with a taller lid so I could fit 2 racks in there. I love it.

Welcome to SMF.....Dedmete.....looks like you already have an addiction for which there is no known cure for.....so CONGRATS....

Welcome to the SMF, I like that UDS you've got.

Welcome to the forum. That UDS does look good. Once you start Smokin, it's hard to break the habit. BBQengineer just completed a nice reverse flow.
