Been lurking for over a year. Was sent from SE MI to Ft Worth TX on biz over a year ago and had real BBQ for the first time. Got home dusted of the GOSM up until then considered the "jerky maker" and decided it was time to learn to use the thing right! Have had great success from what i learned on this site so thanks to everyone that posts.
Was gonna do ribs tomorrow but hit the store for some Makers this morning and the butts were on sale so...well you know how it goes, lol.
Need some good fud after running the dog tomorrow so doing an overnighter.
Gonna try to Q-view tonight's smoke.

I must be a dummy head because after reading the sticky i still can't figure out how to add a pic. Hope this works!

bad night

Ugh!!! Not sure what happened. The remote temp was showing fine, weather was to get cold and rain so I decided to stay up a bit and keep an eye on it, took the dog out and the GOSM caught my eye as being a bit bright. Temp was fine, but opened it up and had huge yellow flames like crazy. shut of the tank and reopened several time, no good, then noticed flames shooting from the gas line going to the burner also. It was like cooking on a candle. everything was covered in black soot, including the butt, smelled nasty. I am seriously bummed. coons and yotes will get a snack tomorrow. :-( Will search the site tomorrow for repair suggestions, too irritated and too much Makers to deal with it now.
At least I got the Q-view to work.
Thanks again everyone for your posts!
