After smoking all summer with a lot of great tips from this forum, I'm finally registered.
I've got a Char-griller with the side firebox. I bought it because I needed a new grill and it seemed to be a pretty solid charcoal grill at a good price. The firebox was a nice bonus, because smoking was something I wanted to try. With a lot of time spent reading on this forum, my summer has been filled with briskets, ribs (spare and baby back), pulled pork, ABTs and Fatties. On occasion, I've smoked a few other cuts of beef, a turkey, eggs, potatoes and corn. So far, I have yet to have anything come out bad, although they are getting better and better. I attribute a lot of that to what I've read here.
I even made some dutch oven chili on a camping trip using leftover smoked meats (a few beefs, a few porks) that was great. We even reheated the chili a couple mornings, added some egg, and made breakfast burritos.
It's starting to get cooler here, so I'll be smoking less and less, but I'm thinking about using the oven (I know, I know...) so I can continue to work on rubs and sauces over the winter.
(all cell phone pics, shrunk to size for an attachment, so I'll apologize for the quality)
Home-made ribs have quickly become one of my favorite things to make...
Thanks for access to the information it took for me to create the pictures above!
A note to admins - I feel like I tried registering 50 times over the last couple of months. That's probably an exaggeration, but a few dozen at least. Every time, it told me the username I selected was already chosen - some of them were pretty abstract, and none showed up in the member list. I'm pretty sure the one that finally worked today was attempted a few times in the past.
