This is my first attempt to build a smoker. I cant take full credit Ive had lots of help (thanks, Scott, Phil, and Harry) this weekend to try and get it done in time to get some good cooking in before the snow flies. We got this from my boss (thanks Mike) His dad (Jim.. I think this is the last person I have to give kudos to) started it a few years ago but due to poor health ( he's in his 90's ) he was unable to get it finished. So after watching it collect rust for the past 3 years I decided to try and finish it.
This is what we had to work with. It started life as a tow able air compressor. Jim gutted it and welded in some 1/4 plates to make a really good box. That's as far as he got.
we cut the bottom out of one end and mounted in our smoke box.
this is pretty much where we had it going in to this weekend.. I'm going to have pics up tomorrow on the almost finished cooker.. it went into the paint both today and should be ready to put on the finishing touches tomorrow.. so.. bring on the questions guys.
