Anyone use a Perfect Flame gas smoker ? Lowes is having a close-out on the 36" 3 rack unit. Thinking about picking up a couple at 119.00. Pros-cons and all comments welcome.

TIA,
Jack~

i just bought one yesterday. I bought the last one, except for the floor model, I knew it was going to have some dents cuz the box hammered and i was right. nothing major. my GOSM just died. I can see good and bad w/ both designs. I am seasoning it right now and will be doing ribs tomorrow. i will post what i find out after using it.

Oh, the floor model did have a really nice heavy cast iron chip box. the one i bought had a cheapy tin box. since there was none left in stock i call and asked if i could come in and just swap that part. was told no problem. so you might want to check that out

I haven't seen or heard of the sale but maybe I'll have to check it out tho. Thanks

it was in not in the weekly sale add. On the first impression, i like it better than my GOSM. I had the small Gosm. I can fit an extra rack of BB in the new smoker. It also easier to maintain 225deg and w/ the cast iron chip tray did not have a single flare up and i could put 3-4 times more chips in it so i was not always adding wood or putting out fire.

picked one up as my first ever smoker and with a charcoal pan added i get great results. so far i've done a chix, a bone in turkey breast, pork butt, and ABT's.

Just went to Lowes to check them out, they had the display model and one in the box, looks like they took a forklift and drove straight into the box.

I purchased one 6 weeks ago from Lowes. It was way to small. The three racks were nice…but each rack is too small to lay out a full rack of ribs. I did turn the controls around so they faced the back. This helped to keep some of the drippings off the burner and igniter controls when tending to the meat. I had to redrill two holes for that mod…but no big deal. It cooked OK…it was just too small for me. However, for $119 it will be hard to beat and I feel it is way better than an ECB.

i haven't done ribs in mine yet but can't you just hang 'em if you want full slabs?

mine did not come w/ the hooks at the top..I thought the floor model had them. I am not worried about that though. i do not see me making sausages in this smokers life time. I am glad to get the cast iron chip box. huge improvement over my old GOSM small sheet metal box.

No experience with that smoker, but a word of advise when dealing with Lowe's... Anytime they have something on clearance, don't pay the sticker price! Make them an offer... Most of the dept. managers can take up 15%-20% on the spot with out having to confer with the store manager. The Lowe's stores around here are always willing to deal on clearance items.

I purchased one last year and really like it. I also purchased a couple of the rib racks that lets you stand a half rack of ribs in each slot. Yes you can hang the ribs from the sausage hanging rack. For the $$$ it is great.

I was looking at the Perfect Flame smoker at Lowe's as my first smoker and ended up getting a really good deal on it. They had two of them left, so I asked a Lowe's employee to match the price that Wal-Mart has on the GOSM ($108), which he agreed to. When I got customer service to check out, the cashier gave me an additional 10% off to beat Wal-Mart's price.

So to sum up: Originally $159, marked down to $119, price matched to $108, then 10% off to bring the total to $97 and change.
