Hi all! What a great site! I recently decided to ditch my brinkmann square vertical for a WSM that I bought brand new on craigslist for 160.00! I havent fired it up or even unboxed it for that matter. Can anyone tell me if there is any specifically good thread for the wsm that I may want to read 1st?

Thanks,
Keith

First off welcome to SMF. Your gonna like it here cause there are alot of good folks here that would just love to help you with just about anything to do with smokin. Next I think you should look up the E-course it's free and very informative and it will show you the basics of smoking. Then check this out
http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/for...ad.php?t=58920
It will show you how to post Qview (pictures) and we like that so we can see what your smoking with and what your smoking. About your smoker just look up the section on equipment and you'll fine pages about your new rig.
So go get something to smoke.

Welcome to the forums. Glad you found us here and congrats on the new smoker.

Wow! What a tremendous response! Thanks for making me feel welcome here. I am from Western NY, between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. I am excited about getting to the next level with all of your help, culinarily speaking that is. I went with the wsm because I wanted to appreciate the art of BBQ to its fullest. Even though I am short on time most days. Heck, I still have to unbox my Weber. I bought some accessories lastnight including a charcoal chimeny and am ready to consider my 1st smoke. I made a pork butt and a bottom round beef last week so I think maybe chicken would be good. Anyone have a recipe that cant miss for a novice?
