SO I just finished burning out my barrel. It was a 55 gallon Food Grade Barrel with a red coating in it. The fire burned pretty hot, the paint on the outside all burned off, but how do I know the liner is gone? It is all black on the top part on the inside, but the middle section is still red. How do I know for sure?

Thanks,

Anthony

Take a wire brush or wire sanding disk and just take it down to bare metal. It might even take a second burn..

Here's what mine looked like once the liner was burned off..

I used a 5 million btu turbo torch, after two burns a that I still had a bit a the liner left, then used a wire wheel on my angle grinder, one last blast with the torch an a power wash. Whatever was left there ain't goin no where an after gettin it that hot sure ain't gonna hurt nothin cause it'll never get that hot again.

Just my two coppers worth.
