When is the perfect time to reach out?

When is the perfect time to reach out to a member who has made regular post before?

Maybe they didn’t make the amount of postings as others but still was a member in good standing.

Do we as a whole on this site ever wonder if they are doing ok? Did they have a hardship and that’s why they aren’t on anymore?

Do you think or feel that if you did reach out to some of these members who haven’t been on for a while that you could possibly bring them back to the site?

When is the perfect time, maybe their Birthday??

Did you happen to view a thread for a birthday to a member who hasn’t been on for a while and didn’t say a thing?

How great would this site be if all of our members would reach out to others! Maybe one day someone will reach out for you?

Just my two cents worth.

Send them a PM.

Click on "Private Messages" in the upper right-hand corner underneath underneath your name and then send 'em one.

Anytime is a good time for me...if you don't see 'em, drop 'em a line...they may not reply, or maybe they will...you won't know if you don't try.

Yes thank you anytime is a good time. We could just send them a "PM" and ask. Or if it happens to be their Birthday what better opportunity! I'm just asking that everybody please check the Messages for All Guest and Members under the thread of "Happy Birthday Full Throttle Q, We miss you!". Many have taken the time to view it but not one reply? To me we could be missing a golden opportunity here. I do not want to sound like I'm preaching to you all.

There's lots of members I miss, some eventually turn up, some never do, I do know that once the nice weather goes and the cold comes back to the land that activity picks up again. Vacation season is over and everyone is back home and they start to think of smoking again.

If a person was active on smf and no longer is , I think that a pm will do no good cause they aren't even logging on. If they do log on and post again most of the time we will notice and welcome them back with open arms.

I saw your welcome to Full throttle Q and hoped that You would get a reply from him/her. If you had gotten a reply, I am quite sure I would have posted a welcome back as well.

We lost a lot of regulars for whatever reason during the website troubles last fall. I sure miss a lot of them. Without email addresses it is impossible to know why they are absent and if or when they will be back.

PS If there is someone specific you are looking for check their posts to see if they have indeed posted or not recently. I recently checked up on someone and was suprised to find out that they had been posting, I just had missed it.

Fact of life I guess, some people just plain lose interest or in some cases they were here to learn the art of smoking and once they learned it they have gone on to different interests.

The same is true for the Chat , some of the regulars just disappeared over the last few months. SuperVman, Chevpro, Sumo, Groupersandwich, and lots more. Too many to mention. I am hoping that they all come back this fall. But I know that some of them probably won't. People move jobs change life goes on I suppose.

hey, thomas - excellent question for discussion!

at my website, we have a lot of regulars, just like here. when one hasn't shown up for a while, we usually try to find out what's up - 99 times out of a hundred, everything is fine, but, it's that 1% that really counts, and the folks appreciate it and the friendship that is demonstrated when people check up on them.

sadly, a couple of times, members have passed away - this, in my mind, is all the more reason to keep tabs on folks when they become more than "internet acquaintences" and start getting to the status of true friends.
