Hello from California!

Hi Guys, been following the forum for quite a while - learning from your experience, and trying out new recipes. Thought I should finally introduce myself.

My name is Robert, and I'm from Northern California. Though I'm no novice behind a grill, I recently ventured into the area of smoking meats. I picked up a Traeger Pro 124 w/ the 180 Degree Digital Controller about a month ago, and now the gas grill is gathered cobwebs icon_wink.gif

The Traeger during it's first smoke!

So far, it has been a great pit, have made several racks of ribs, canadian bacon, and just put my first Pastrami on the Traeger (QView to come).

My first pork spare ribs!

Picked up the BBQ bug while traveling about in Texas and the South, can't wait to try out some new recipes and techniques!

First off welcome to SMF. You'll like it here cause there are alot of good people here that would just love to help you in just about anything to do with smoking meat.You look as if you have the basics down pat and the Qview also so I guess all you need is time to smoke something and let us see what all you did on your smoker. Welcome Robert. Bout the only bug that is good to be bit by is the BBQ bug.
First try at ribs looked great, can't wait to see some more Qview.

I'm in the Sacramento area. The wife and I had to go to SF last Friday to pickup our daughter she flew in, returning from 3 months in Europe. We managed to take the tour of the King Tut exhibit. Very Impressive! Highly recommend it, if you appreciate history or ancient art. If you go don't buy any books there you can find them all online for less than half the price.

Quick Question for the Group

Does anyone know how long new posts generally wait for moderator's approval before they make it on the site?

I posted about my first Pastrami yesterday, but it never showed up on the site. Not sure if it got lost and I should repot, or it's just sitting in queue and I should be patient. icon_smile.gif

Any help or guidance you have would be great!!

We check the post that are needing moderation several times a day. I just checked and it looks like its already been approved.
