Brinkman Propane Smoker Questions

I did a quick search, and didnt find any posts, I also searched the propane smoker section. I apoligize if this is a repost of things already covered.

I am curious if anyone owns a Brinkman Vertical Gas smoker. The one I am looking at is sold at Home Depot for $149.

I want to know how well it works, etc. I currently own an offset smoker which is great for the summer months when I can devote hours to monitoring the temps on my deck. I would use the Brinkman come fall and winter when it is cold, and I will be inside most of the time watching football.

any insight would be appreciated.

I do

While I am extremely new (signed on yesterday) I actually feel as if this is my first step in becoming a member of this community. I do
own a Brinkmann upright and while I have only used it a few times I have had good results. I was rarely off temp and when I was I was not sure if it was due to the fact I was outside and it was over 100 degrees with heat index. But with little monitoring I was able to produce an extremly good chicken that my family devoured. It is easy to assemble. The one problem I have is with the smoke chimney, it is only one setting, and that is wide open.(a little mod is all it needs) Overall a good smoker for the money in my opinion.

thank you for the response. I was looking at the smoker at the store today, and really think I will be picking one up before this fall. Looks to have good capacity, and a solid build.

Consider also the Perfect Flame vertical smoker from Lowe's.

I looked at both very carefully before choosing the PF, which seemed to have a slightly better design and build, and seems a bit larger.
I've been very happy with my PF and it doesn't need any mods.

However, the double doors on the Brinkman does look like a nice feature.

Regarding the chimney, you'll probably be running it fully open anyway.
I'd actually prefer to have that little covered stack.

I'm using the Brinkmann Vertical from Home Depot. It must be an HD exclusive because I haven't found it anywhere else, even online. There are few things about it that are great. I like the double doors and the big wood chunk pan (for the size of the smoker). I wish it had adjustable venting options. It's great in cooler weather, but here in AZ in the summer, it's a fight to keep it under 300. Also, it is a bit small. It's great for the wife and I, but would be challenging to do a smoke for a bigger group. All in all, it's a good smoker for the price, as long as it's big enough for your needs. Fairly well built, easy assembly, pretty consistent on temps once you get it where you want it. Hope that helps!

definitley helpful, and lot of the info I was looking for. I will still have my offset for larger parties, but the Brinkman looked to be able to hold enough for my typical gatherings.
