Group of us are gathering our smokers and doing a big smoke for about 50 people this weekend. We have 2 campsites (for the all night smoke) and a shelter (for the serving) reserved for this Friday and Saturday. It sounds like we've got a couple briskets, at least 3 pork butts, a 14# turkey, and a handful of fatties planned for the smoke. We may have up to 6 smokers going for the event. We are calling it Meatwave '09. We vary in our experience. For a couple of the guys this will be their first long smokes. I have done several so I think I'm ready to go. Got my GOSM ready and totally dedicated for the turkey, and my Horizon will do a brisket and 2 butts. I promise to include Q Vue probably Sunday.
Quick question though-my turkey 14# how long should I plan on it taking? I want to make sure I plan correctly.

Sounds like your in for a real good time this weekend. Now about the turkey... I've only done a couple turkeys so I hope some more folks chime in here with a formula but my last 12 1/2 lbs. turkey took about 7 1/2 hours in a ecb. Hope this helps.

D it sounds like a good time. As for the turkey I smoke mine at about 325 and at that about 4 hours give or take a 1/2 hour

Nothing helps pass the time like friends and beer. Sounds like you are in for a good time.
