I volunteered my smoking services to the local tavern's pool team to make pulled pork and smoked chicken for their end of season party. For 30 people I smoked 2 butts totaling 21 lbs. and I did 20lbs of chicken 1/4s and 10lbs of 1/4s just in BBQ sauce. (for those poor souls who don't like smoked chicken)
I did a chicken rub under the skin of the chicken and did the butts with the mustard and the rub. I smoked the butts for 5 hours and cheated by finishing them in the oven...it started to rain heavy. I used the finishing sauce recipe I got here for the 1st time (SoFlaQuer's Finishing Sauce) It was a HUGE success. There were a couple of LARGE pool shooters (300+ lb range) that raved about the pork. I was worried the 1/2lb per person formula was going out the window. Luckly, everyone got their fill and a good time was had by all. Aside from the food there was free beer from 12 to 6 pm. As the party got going I must confess that I did partake of more than a few pounders of the miller lite variety; along with a few short ones bought for me in appreciation of my smoking skills. When my wife came to pick me up, I was somewhat more happy than usual.
I apparently came down with a 4 hour flu around 4:30am when I awoke for work... I missed work Monday but I made a quick recovery and had no trouble getting to work today.

Congratulations on your sucessful smoke! Sounds like it was a big hit.

Sounds like a good time. Did you get any pictures?

No picts, it seems that the wife knows me well when there is "free beer" involved with a party. The words...lost...broken....dissaper....come to mind.

Sounds like fun! As I tell my wife, I got drunk on accident. It never works but I still use it.
