I LOVE this forum!...talk about enthusiasts...this is my kinda crowd...so glad I found this place...
I go by "mtnwalker", friends call me Rando.
I live in the foothills of NC, but as far as the bbq thing...I normally prefer the eastern NC style...vinegar is a good thing, and as far as I know.......good for you!
I have a Brinkmann grill/smoker (the one without the side box) that I bought in 1996 just after Fran dropped a tree on my house and my...cough...cough...gas grill....I was grilling over cut up chunks of horizontal oak trees for the next 10 years...I have never gon back to gas.
That grill is still in excellent shape...hat's off to it's makers...it is at my cabin a few miles from my home now...and still earning its keep just fine.
I bought a slightly used New Braunfels "El Dorado" about 6 months ago and it is here at my house now....earning its keep almost daily itself....(when it stops raining long enough anyway!)..
Pork and chicken seem to be my favorites...burgers is the typical beef for me...special occasions...steak....mushrooms are frequent visitors..!
Happy to find this place...I have some reading to do...I'll be around..
see ya

I'm a displaced Western NC feller. Lived in the Asheville area.

I know smoked hamburgers taste good better than you might imagine...1996...hurricane Fran dropped that tree on my house and that new gas grill..I bought that Brinkmann smoker grill...and ended up smoking EVERYTHING in my freezer...including LOTS of hamburger...and sausage/chicken/deer...pretty much some of everything...I had a full size freezer and no generator............I have a generator now though...got it as soon as the emergency prices went down after Fran....

Hey Rando! (I guess I'll call you that, since we all consider each other to be friends and family here). Glad to have you with us...sounds like you've had your share of mother nature's venting as well...been through some myself. Good thing that we're around to talk about it.

Enjoy the forum, and great smokes to ya!

Eric

and just to update...equipment wise....a local guy had one of the Brinkmann pit cookers with the offset firebox....about the same age as my original 1996 Brinkmann....he never used it......gave it to me...it is just as good and strong as it always was......

Welcome to SMF Rando!
Hey Al, he isn't new, He just didn't post this in the correct thread...

He just posted in his old thread instead of starting a new one in the correct forum.

He joined two months before you did in 2009.  LOL
