turkey breast filets

Thread Starter
We are going to cookout on the grill tonight and my wife brings home turkey breast fillets. My question is, is it just like cooking chicken breast? Or have any of you all done this? And if so is there anything I should know? Thanks

You cook it just like a whole breast

You will need to take some steps to keep it from drying out. Injecting it with butter, wrapping in bacon, keeping it mopped and basted or all of the above.

If you have time to get some of that cajun injection with the little syringe on the side it makes it very moist.

I found it at the local grocery store/ department store like a Wally world in the BBQ section. Otherwise you can order some online I will see if I can find a link

One I recently did, if you are doing it tonight you won't have time for a proper brine, but I brined mine and rubbed with olive oil and cracked black pepper, sprayed with apple juice and it came out great. Basically just like cooking chicken.

turkey breast on grill

Try to do the injection thing before grilling I use a vegetable oil brush with a spice rub like this
  • 1/4 cup paprika
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 heaping teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
over it and sear then cook on low side until internal temp is 175 and pull off, It will continue to go up while resting. Let them rest for 1/2 hour covered in foil then slice up and eat up.
