I am somewhere between just getting started and a seasoned novice

My gear right now is a char griller offset with mods "it's about to go in the trash" and be replaced with a old country 20"

I'm in Fate Texas just east of Rockwall

Welcome to the SMF Family! Looking forward to seeing some pics of your q. If you're interested, check out the free, 5-day ecourse offered through the site. It's got some good information for a smoker of your experience level

First welcome to SMF You will really like it here alot of really good info. what did you do with the offset? I sure someone here wood love to try it out. Oh yea nice Q looks like you wil be eating really well tonight.

I have a char-griller duo offset from lowes, its several years old and has some issues. I was going to buy a custom built 1/4" offset but decided to wait untill next year when I can afford a Lang. Figured based on reviews from people and info I found here on SMF that the weber would be a good smoker for now. Not to mention I got a great deal on it since a co-worker has a membership with directbuy.com

The chargriller duo if anyone is looking at them, they work but its really limited space and some parts they don't sell on their site other then that its not a bad deal for the 299.00.

Mines sitting in my back yard if someone wants it really cheap give me a shout.

Heres a shot of the old offset

Thanks, glad to be here. I have to say my WSM has made smoking much more enjoyable then the chargriller duo ever was.

Just unfoiled the ribs and they are amzaing, just finishing the last 30 mins now to crisp them a bit then the wife kids and I are going to eat like kings :)
