**new project need good ideas**

OK I got this old double fridge for free. It has double glass sliding doors and about 2" thick walls...well insulated. I want to make this a cold smoker for sausages, cheese, fish, ect..... So the max temp it will see is about 170 or so. I am planning on putting double electric burners in the bottom and adding my smoke daddy to the side. I am thinking of a vent in the top where we are taking out the circulation fan in side at the top. And possibly a intake vent in the bottom. I am planning on just using the controls on the portable electric grills to control temps. Let me know what you think and any ideas...PLEASE.....it also has adjustable racks that are out for right now. do to moving it. U can see how big it is in side with the picture of my 2 boys in side of it. one you can see real good the other his twin, is on the other side behind the glass.

got some cleaning to do

top of it...no holes yet

If the refridgeration works, why don't you use it as a cold smoker?

it doesn't...the compressor is out...but i plan on cold smokes also. in the winter time it will be no problem at all. I am worried that 2 electric plates won't heat it up enough to do the 170ish temps....does anyone else have one about this size ? and if so what do you use for a heat source. this is what i am looking to use for a heat source. or something like this http://www.amazon.com/Aroma-AHP-312-...3287040&sr=8-9

Have you checked this thread out - it is a very nice large fridge conversion.

I'm quite sure that little double hot-plate is not going to cut it.
I used a single hot plate in a GOSM clone and couldn't get above 110*F.
