Just came across this, thought it would be informative.

(WGN-AM)- A northwestern Illinois meatpacker has recalled nearly 96,000 pounds of ground beef after meat from the plant was linked to E. coli illnesses in Illinois, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture says the beef was produced by Valley Meats LLC of Coal Valley in March and distributed in 10-pound to 40-pound packages, sold under brand names including Grillmaster, J&B, Thick'N Savory, 3S, Klub and Ultimate.

All of the recalled beef products bear the establishment number "EST. 5712" inside the USDA's inspection mark.

E. coli bacteria can cause bloody diarrhea, dehydration, and kidney failure. Those most vulnerable include the very young, the aged and people with weak immune systems, according to USDA's Food Safety Inspection Service.

Phone messages seeking comment today from Valley Meats were not immediately returned.

Thanks for the information, I hope they can get it off the shelf pronto. We have enough to deal with in these times.

It is now up to 11 states but don't know all of the Florida has been added to it tho

One more reason to buy meat from the butcher or meat locker that you trust. I don't do ground beef, if that's what they call that crap, from any of the big box stores.
