I'm still getting used to my Perfect Flame smoker and I'm wondering how you all use your vents on your propane smokers.

So far, I've kept the bottom vents closed as much as possible and the same with the top (though on mine, you can't get the top one more than 1/2 closed for some reason).
I haven't used much wood chips so far so I'm not too worried about creosote buildup otherwise I should maybe keep the top full open. Also, I get alot of leakage around the top of the door - I've got some silicone that I can apply to close that gap.

I'm dreaming up some mods to my smoker and I'd like to know if I'm going to want to use those bottom vents at some time.

You've got the bottom ones set just right but the top you should leave all the way open. As far as leakage around the door, that's going to be pretty standard. The smoke still gets to the meat.

Yer gonna wanna use them bottom vents ta hep control yer temps some. Most a the time the top vent is run full open.

I wouldn't worry to much, unless it be alotta leakage.

On my GOSM...most times the bottom vents are closed as far as they will close and the top vent is wide open.

I wouldn't worry too much about the leakage around the door....unless it's really bad.
