We went camping last weekend and I put my Dutch Oven to good use. I made Dutch’s Wicked Baked Beans and a Cobbler. Sure was fun.

Looks great and I gotta ask since I just got a Dutch oven for Christmas and am going to start using it this summer at my camper. What is the lining you have in the DO when making the cobbler? Parchment paper? Never seen that before but looks like a great way to avoid a nasty cleaning job.

Attn Garyt

Yes Garyt you are right. It is Parchment paper, much like a crock pot liner. I use my DO every time we go camping. I have a Lodge 10” & 12”. You can download DO cookbooks, Google Boy Scout’s Camp Dutch Oven Cook Book. I think there may be a DO cook book in this forum. I’m going to print the BS DO cook book and then take it to Office Depot and have them laminate the pages and then do a binding. I’ve done this with fishing info, and it works great water/fool proof.

Thanks for the tip

The beans look great, but that cobbler is off the hook! What did you use for the crust?

I found some liners at Wal Mart. Might also find some at camping stores and/or in camp supply department.

If not, you can use foil.

D.O. cooking is good fun.

Roo-B-Q'N this is so easy and delicious.
Pour into DO two cans of pie filling, your choice. Then 1 box of white or yellow cake mix, the cheaper the better. Pour the cake mix evenly over the fruit filling, do not steer or mix. I use 1 stick of butter/margarine. Cut it into several chunks and spread evenly on top of cake mix. You may want to sprinkle a little sugar over the cake mix and butter. Cook at aprx 350 deg for aprx 45 min. Good luck.

Gator thanks for the timely reminder.....and POINTS for the Qview.

Last summer I cut up some fresh peaches, put them in the DO covered with a package of cake mix, some butter chunks and man was it good. Fresh peach cobbler.......Hmmmm the peaches are just now ripe on my tree. hmmmmmm. Sounds like a plan.
