After seeing all the creations that RonP does using Teriyaki I said what the heck. The butt is about 8 lbs so I cleaned her up and coated in Teriyaki and poured over my rub. Then off to the fridge. So I was up at 3am this morning and what did I discover?? No apple juice. Hmmmmmm. I looked thru the fridge and found pineapple orange juicy. So I decided I am going to use that mixed with the Teriyaki for my mop. Put the Butt on and its currently in a stall pattern right at 160.

Here's the butt getting ready for the big show.

Heres the butt getting foiled and the ribs going on. Did the ribs the same as the butt.

The but smells better than any of the others I have done so far so It should be good. Ill update you later. Thanks for looking.

Looks like you're off to a proper start to a great smoke! Ronp does have some pretty neat recipes ... hope this one tastes as great as it smells!

I am happy with the bark on it so far. Seems a little better than normal. We shall see.

You got it goin' there, lookin' really good.

I'm a teriaki lover myself, even jerky, heck, pork and chicken, too!
Come to think of it, there's not much that can be botched-up with teriaki, 'cept for (probably) fish?

Keep it coming.

Eric

Hey Doug. Thanks for the info. Never tried it myself and didn't have good enough imagination I guess. What won't we think of? Sounds good to me.

Happy smokin'!

Eric

Here is a picture of the ribs getting foiled.

Below are the pictures of the finished product. I wasn't sure how this would turn out. Not because of the Teriyaki but because of the orange pineapple juice i used with it. All in all I am very happy with the results. Will do it like this again. The pineapple orange juice added a little something too it. Gave it that next notch. There was also so much juice in the foil that it almost over flowed. Good think I did extra layers of foil.

The Butt is finally done. It stalled at 162 after being on for 11 hours. The dropped to 158 and then got to 200 in 2 hours. It was well worth the wait.

Wowzer, what a great finish Brian. Thanks for the QVIEW!
