Was in walmart looking for a flat, (found a nice 9.75# one) and walked past the pork section and this butt jumped into my cart. That kinda thing is happening more and more lately. Got it rubbed and ready then onto the pit at about 4:30. No mustard this time. Just my rub without the chili powder. Applewood starting out then going with hickory later.

Lmao. noooo I haven't spritzed since I found out it's not a manly thing to do. I started out spraying until the bark started forming and now I'm mopping. If I understand right mopping IS manly......... especially if you've been in the navy. PDT_Armataz_01_29.gif

Well its at 5 1/2 hours and after a short stall its up to 151 and climbing. Nice bark forming. I'm thinkin this is gonna be good. At least I hope so.

You know me.... Get the bright idea that maybe this time it won't take too long or stall. Anyway it did turn out very nicely. Here's the final

Finally hit 205 at about 3:30am. (alarm woke me up this time)

Put in the cooler and set alarm for 5. Got up and pulled the meat. eek.gif

Applied the finishing sauce and mixed it in well. Put the whole 6+ pounds in a 2.5 gallon ziplock and into the fridge.

Got home and put about 2 pounds in a roasting pan and heated in the oven at 200. Fixed some spicy BBQ beans and tater wedges and it was time to get down to business.

Business is good. wink.gif

Well, that settled it! I'm doing a butt this weekend. One of my favorite foods, and those pics persuaded me it was time to soothe my appetite. Nice job!

Thanks guys n gals. It is a nice butt as noted butt I'm trying to find things to do with all this butt. Got a new recipe i'm trying tonight. I'll post it later. :)
